Fifteen minutes later my Aunt Linda walk in.

“Hello Lacey, let’s go we need to get to the hospital.”

I just sat there looking at her for a while, she came up to me and put her arm around my shoulders and started guiding me out and said Lacey honey we need to get to the hospital okay. Okay I said and stood up and started to fallow her out to the car. I don’t remember the ride to the hospital it was as if I was in another world.

When we got up to my mother's room she was sitting there with a nurse. The nurse walked up to me, gave me a big hug, and whispered in my ear that she was sorry. Then she turned to my Aunt Linda and told her that the doctor would be here in fifteen minutes to tell us what was happening to my mother. Then she left us. I went in and sat in the chair next to my mother’s bed and took a hold of her had. She smiled at me and told me that everything was going to be fine and that my Aunt Linda will take good care of me.

I couldn’t hide the tears that were about to fall down my cheeks. I told her that I didn’t know how I was going to make it without her. My Aunt came up beside me and took both of our hands in hers and told my mother that she will take good care of me. Just then the doctor walked in and asked my Aunt Linda if she would step out into the hall with him. When they left the room, I laid my head down on my mother’s chest and told her how much I love her and that I was going to miss her very much. She petted my hair and said that she loved me and was going to miss me very much to and that she would be watching over me every day.

When my Aunt came back in, she came and sat on the other side of the bed and took my mother’s other had. We sat there holding her hands and tell she was gone. The doctor came back in as soon as she pasted and told us that he was sorry for are loss, and if there was anything that he could do for us just ask. My Aunt looked at him and said thank you Doctor Smith.

“As soon as you fill up to it, there are papers that we will need you to sign Mrs. Walters.”

“Okay I will be out to sign them in just a minute.”

On the drive home nether, my Aunt Linda or I said a word to each other. When we got home, I went straight to my mother’s room and just laid on her bed and cried. It was dark when my Aunt Linda came in and told me that I should try to get something to eat.

“I really don’t think that I could eat anything I don’t feel so good.”

“I know dear, but it is not healthy for you to not eat, I will go make dinner and will come and get you when it is done.”

“I will just come out to the kitchen with you now.”

I followed her out to the kitchen, and I sat at the table while she cooked dinner for us.

While we were eating, my Aunt Linda told me that she called her lawyer to come out here to help her get all the paper work done that will give her legal guardian ship of me.

My Aunt Linda called her lawyer Mr. Tanner in Florida first thing in the next morning like she said she was going to and asked him when he could get here and how long it would take to get all the paper work done. He said that he could fly out first thing in the morning and that it should only take a day or two to get all the paper work done.

After my Aunt Linda was done talking with her lawyer, we had to go to the funeral home to start deciding for my mother’s funeral. We decided on a coffin with pink satin in side it was nice. After the funeral home we went to the florist and got my mother’s favorite flower pink roses, that was our last stop for the day. It was one of the hardest things that I had to do. When we got home, Miranda came over to sit with me.

  “So how are you doing?”

“I don’t know it is as if I am dreaming and at any minute I will wake up and everything will be back to normal.”

“I know what you mean I cannot believe that your mother is gone either I am going to miss her.”

“I am going to go live with my Aunt Linda in Florida. I want to go but I don’t, I don’t want to leave you. You’re my best friend and I ‘m going to miss you so much, it just isn‘t far.”

“I will miss you to; you know that anytime you want to talk to me that all you have to do is call me.”

“Yeah, I know but it won’t be the same.”

“We can make plan so I can go see you during vacation times and summer, and you know that you can always come and stay with me anytime you want to, and we can also email each other every day.”

“I know but it still won’t be the same.”

“Yeah but at least we will be able to keep in touch with each other.”

“You’re right, okay well I better go I have to start packing.”

  “Okay talk to you latter.”

  Chapter Four

My Aunt Linda’s lawyer arrived, the next day just like he said he would and over lunch he went over all the paper work with us. He told us that we had to sign all the paper work in front of a judge and the judge would sign them. We had an appointment with the judge after lunch, so as soon as we got done eating, we went straight to the court house.

When we got done there, we went back to the hotel were my Aunt Linda’s lawyer was staying and he went over a few more things with us. He told us that he would get someone to sell the trailer as soon as possible and put the money in a savings account for me. He said that he would make sure that my Aunt and I got all the paper work from the sale of the trailer.

It took the next week to get everything packing up. The first things that we pack up was all my mother’s stuff and took what I didn’t want to keep to the good will. We had to ship some of the things that I wanted to keep of my mother’s because there wasn’t enough room in my Aunt Linda’s car to take it with us.

We got all my stuff pack and loaded in to the car for the next day so that all we had to do was just get up get dressed and go. That night Miranda came and stayed with me. We sat up half of the night talking about all the things that we are going to do when she come and stays with me. In the morning My Aunt Linda came in and woke us up, I was so tired that I had a hard time getting up. I got up and went straight for the shower and woke myself up with a burst of cold water. I got out and went back to my room to get dress Miranda was already dressed. While I was getting dressed Miranda pulled a small box out of her purse and handed it to me.

“What is this?'” I asked her.

  “It's a going away gift.”

“You didn't have to do that.”

“I know but I just wanted to give you something to remember me by.”

  “I will never forget you.”

“I know but I still wanted to give it to you.”

I opened the box and in it was a friend ship ring. I put it on told her thank you and gave her a hug.

  “You welcome.”

My Aunt called to us and that breakfast was done and that we need to hurry so we could get going we have a long drive a head of us. Okay I yelled back we will be right there. After we finished eating, I took one last walk through my small trailer when I go to my mother’s room, I just stood there for a while and thought about some of the good times that we had and how much I’m going to miss her. Just as the first tear started rolling down my cheek my Aunt Linda and Miranda came and put their arms around me and told me that everything was going to be alright, we all walked out to my Aunt's car. I gave Miranda hug goodbye and got into the car. As we drove away Miranda wave and got into her car. When I waved back, I realized that I had tears running down my cheeks.

Half way there my Aunt Linda pulled in to a hotel and said that she was tired and that we were going to stay the night here and we would start going again first thing in the morning. The room that we stayed in as nice it had two separate bedrooms and a living room it was it was like an apartment minus the kitchen. Instead of going down to the restaurant we called and had room service bring us something up.

We ate in silence, as soon as we were done eating my Aunt said that we should get some sleep that she wanted to get up early she wanted to get home by the afternoon tomorrow. I told her okay and went to my room and laid down. I must have b
een more tired than I thought because the next thing I remember was my Aunt Linda knocking on the door telling me that it was time to get up and go. I sat up and rubbed the sleep out of my eye and told her that I would be right out. We ate a fast breakfast and got back on the road.

My Aunt Linda pulled up in front of a large cast iron gate and said we are here. There was a box that she put some numbers in and the gates opened. The driveway was tile and lined with Tiffany glass lamps. The lawn looked like an emerald carpet, with every blade cut perfectly. To the right of me were six feet high hedges. Then I caught sited of the house I couldn’t believe my eye, it was a very large Queen Anne, Victorian style house. It was a free classic style with classical columns raised on stone piers, a Palladian window at the center of the second story, and dentil moldings. There were statues of lions on each side of the steps going up to the front doors.

“I told my Aunt Linda that this was the biggest house that I have ever seen and asked her how many rooms it had.”

  “It has twenty rooms.”

On the side of the house there was a three-car garage. My Aunt Linda stopped in front of the doors. Just as we pulled up to the house an older gentleman came out of the house to meet us.

“Hello Robert, this is my niece Lacey Anderson. She is going to be staying with us for a while.”

“Hello Miss Anderson, it is nice to meet you.”

“This is my butler Robert Jackson.”

“It is nice to meet you to Robert.”

“Robert can you please get are stuff out of the car and take them upstairs. Put Lacey’s things in the room a crossed the hall from mine.”

  “Yes, right away Mrs. Walters.”

The entryway had a shiny marble floor. There was a teardrop glass chandelier hanging from the ceiling. The stairway, winding up with a golden balustrade and it was polished to glow. On the right was a very large living room with a pine grandfather’s clock that bonged the hour of five. All the furniture was oversized to the fill the room. Light green curtains draped the windows and the marble floor was covered here and there with large Persian oval area rugs in a matching green. There was oil painting of scenes in cities like Paris and London, as well as grand gardens; the frame looked like they coasted thousands of dollars.

A crossed the hall was the den, with its rich, plush leather sofas and chairs. The dining room had a table that could seat twenty people it was made from oak and the kitchen looked more like a kitchen for a restaurant.

Let’s go upstairs and I will show you to your room so you can get cleaned up and get some rest before dinner it has been a long trip. Along the stairs was pictures of my Aunt Linda and her husband, he was a very handsome man, he had short light brown hair and sky-blue eyes. His face fetchers were perfect and light tan completion to complete it.

We got to the top of the stairs and walk half way down a long hall and stopped in front of the seconded door. This will be your room; my room is just across the hall. I couldn't believe my eye when I walked into the bedroom. It was colored in a delicious pink, richer than the pale mauve of what I thought had to be at least a two-inch-thick carpet. There was a king-size canopy bed. The walk-in closet was bigger than the room I had in the trailer. It had shelves for shoes, and a mirror and a small dressing table at the rear. There was also a vanity table and matching dresser in the room itself.

The bathroom has a huge, all the fixtures were brass. The floor was a whitewashed tile. There was a whirlpool tub, a glass stall shower that looked like it would fit a whole family and double sinks, and mirrors everywhere.

“It is so beautiful.” I told my Aunt Linda.

“I’m glad that you like it. In the next couple of days, we will go get you some clothes to fill up that empty closet.”

“You don’t have to do that.”

“I know but I want to, it makes me happy to buy things for you it’s the least that I can do for you with your mother being gone.”

My Aunt Linda gave me a smile and said okay now get some rest before dinner and the she left my room. I went into the bathroom and started running me a bath. It was nice to soak in a bath and the jets are so cool and so relaxing that I almost feel asleep. I got out, dried my hair and got dressed. Just as I had finished getting dressed there was a knock at my door, and then my Aunt Linda walked in.

  “How are you feeling?”

“A lot better now that I have taken a bath.”

“Good dinner with be ready in fifteen minutes is you ready to go down?”

“Yes, I am.” I said and I followed my Aunt Linda down to the dining room.

An older woman and what looked like her daughter served us are dinner. As they served us dinner, my Aunt Linda introduced them to me.

“This is Jane and her daughter Tammy Watson. This is my niece Lacey.”

“Hello, it is nice to meet you.” I said.

At the same time Jane and her daughter both told me that they we glad to meet me and went back into the kitchen. After dinner my Aunt Linda said that she was tired and that she was going to go up to bed.

“If you like you can explore the house.”

“I'm tired myself so I think that I will just go up to bed also.”

We walked up the stair together, at the top my Aunt Linda gave me a hug and said goodnight and that she would see me in the morning. She went into her room and me to mine. I got into my pajamas and laid down on my bed to read my book but, I must have been more tired than I thought, because the next thing I remember was a knocking on my door. I sat up and grinded the sleep out of my eye and said come in.

It was Tammy she pokes her head in and said that Mrs. Walters wanted her to come and let her know that breakfast was ready.

“Okay I will be right down.”

She said okay and closed the door softly. I got up took a fast shower got dressed and went down stairs for breakfast. When I got to the dining room Jane was just heading into the kitchen and told me that my Aunt was waiting for me out in the breakfast nook, she told me how to get there and then went into the kitchen.

When I got there, my Aunt Linda was sitting at the table in a silk robe drinking a cup of coffee.

“Good morning Lacey, sit down and have some orange juice Jane will be right out with are breakfast.”

I sat down in the chair a crossed from my Aunt and poured me a glass of juice. Jane came in and set a plate in front of my Aunt and one in front of me, there was bacon, eggs and hash brown on the plates. It looks wonderful.

“So how did you sleep last night?” I asked my Aunt Linda just as she took a bite of her eggs.

  “Good thank you.”

I must have been very tired because I don’t even remember falling asleep.”

“That is good, after breakfast we are going to go shopping for you some new clothes.”

  “Okay.”

After we were done eating, my Aunt Linda went up to her room to get ready to go shopping. I went for a short walk in the back yard while I waited for my Aunt to get ready, it was so beautiful. There was a heart shaped pool and just past that were a tennis court and then the garden it was beautiful. I just got past the tennis court when I heard my Aunt called for me to go. I went back in the house where my Aunt Linda was waiting for me.

“Are you ready to go Lacey?” she asked.

  “Yes, I am ready.”

We went out to the car and there was Robert waiting for us by the car, as soon as we got to the car, he opened the door for us I slid in first and then my Aunt Linda.

When we got to the first store, I couldn’t believe how much everything was. My Aunt Linda said that she had a few things in mind that she thought that I would like. She told the girl at the register if she would get the clothes that she called about to show me.

“Yes, off course Mrs. Walters.” She said and walk to the back room. She came back with another girl and all kinds of clothes for me to choose.

I had a hard time choosing they were all so nice there were shirts with matching skirts, pants suits.
I finely choose five-skirt outfit and five pants outfits. When my Aunt went to pay, I couldn’t believe the total was more than what my mother paid for are car. In the next store we went to, we got shoes to go with all the outfits that we just bought. After we left that shop, my Aunt Linda asked if I was hungry.

  “Yes I am.”

“Good so am I let’s go get some lunch; I know a good restaurant just up the street. We will drop are packages off at the car with Robert and then walk over there.”

We took all are packages to the car and headed to the restaurant to get some lunch. Most of the people in there were dresses nice, I felt under dressed. When My Aunt Linda seen the look on my face, she knew what I was thinking.

“It okay doesn’t worry about the way you are dressed it is fine.”

We were seated next to a water fountain, it was nice.

“My Aunt Linda told me that I could order anything that I wanted and suggested the lobster, that’s what I am going to get with a side salad.”

  “I will have the same.”

While we were waiting for are food to come, my Aunt Linda asked me if I was happy with the new clothes that she got me.

“Yes, I am they are very nice.”

“I am glad that you like them. I will have a party so we can get you some friends before school starts. I will make arrangements for all my friends to come over that have children your age.”

“You don’t have to do that Aunt Linda.”

“I know but I want to, and you really do need to make some friends before school starts. It will make it easier on your first day if you have friends.”

When are lunch got there it looked and smelled so good, I couldn’t wait to eat? When we were done eating my Aunt Linda said that we need to get me a dress for me to wear to the party. When we got to the shop my Aunt had some of the girl model some of the dresses for me? I choose a light blue silky one that had spaghetti straps and a V-neck, it went down just below my knees it was beautiful. The next stop was back to the shoe store where she bought me a pair of shoes to match the dress she just bought.
